At this family-owned brewery, there is a long tradition of taking
pride in the products made. The “hands on” brewery
tour begins with a look at the Brewery’s history that
will acquaint you with four generations of the Matt family.
True to their German brewing heritage, a distinctive variety
of malts and hops are carefully selected to brew each of their
award winning Saranac family of beers. Tours of the brewery
end with the Utica Club Trolley ride to the 1888 Tavern, where
you can put your tasting skills to the test by sampling a
selecting of Saranac lagers and ales on draft. The 1888 Tavern
Root Beer is also available on tap as well as bottles. A trip
to the brewery would not be complete without a stop at the
Brewery Shop, home of the famous talking beer steins, Schultz
and Dooley.
